Today we attended the 9th Annual Assembly of Aefame, the Basque Association of Family Businesses, held at the Loizaga Tower (Galdames, Bizkaia).
An event in which we had the opportunity to share our experience and vision on the role of governance to ensure the continuity of the family business.
Conference and speakers
The event began with a welcome speech by Mr. Jose Miguel Lanzagorta – President of Aefame, followed by the intervention of Mr. Pablo Sanz – Managing Partner of EY Northern Region (co-sponsors of the event).
To address the central theme of the Assembly, Mr. Joaquin Uriach – Board of owners of the Uriach Group, gave a presentation on “Family Governance and business growth after a century of existence”, reflecting on his business and family project and the success story of his group in the family governance model.
Afterwards, Miguel Ángel García Cámara, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Group, took part in an interesting round table in which, accompanied by Joaquin Uriach and Javier Igarza, Managing Director of Reiner Group, they discussed the subject in depth, explaining the organisation’s experiences and their own experiences. The round table was moderated by Carlos Prieto Luis, territorial director of Santander (co-sponsors of the Assembly).
The institutional closing of the event was followed by a visit to the Rolls-Royece exhibition and a lunch.
This is the most important event of the year for the association, where strategic issues for the family business are put on the table and it is also a very interesting meeting point for all the associates.
